Such A Lovely Day

The recent nice days have brought Mila and Mommy out to play. This time we went downtown and enjoyed the beautiful gardens at the Art Institute before heading over to Crown Fountain.
A lovely day, indeed.

BFFs

Mila Quinn and her friend Saya Louise were born just 3 weeks apart. We always have fun meeting up with Saya and her Mommy, Marcy. Last week we went to their house to play with Saya's fun sand + water table. These two are so cute together in their matching hats! Mila's sporting the darker one in case you can't tell them apart, or just click on the collage for a closer look :)

Guest Post from Daddy: Happy Fathers Day!

Mila,

Spending time with you and watching you grow up these past 15 months has been a wonderful blessing to me. Before you were born, I didn't know what to expect, but you have surpassed all of my expectations.

You are a beautiful, sweet, hilarious little girl. You are such a happy baby. Your curiosity warms my heart and makes me so proud. It is such a joy to see you learning new things every day. I think it is so sweet how you hug and kiss your friends and cousins (and Harry), but I like it best when you run to me and put your arms around me. It is so awesome to see you develop your own personality. Right now, I would say that your top interests include trying new foods, saying "hi" and "bye" to anyone who will listen, reading books, Mommy's jewelry, ice cubes, Harry, shoes, and getting tossed around by me. You are also developing a delightful sense of humor with impeccable comedic timing.

Not a day has gone by that Mommy and I haven't smiled, laughed, and talked about you with pride and love. You add so much to our lives. Even though you've been saying "dada" for about a month, I'm glad Mommy now knows how that makes me feel, since you've been saying "mama" for almost a week now. It also makes us so proud how you can understand some of the things we say to you now, even if you can't yet respond with words. At the bottom of this note there are some pictures of the fun time we had with Mommy yesterday.

I still don't know what to expect from you as you continue to grow, but I do know that I look forward to many more years of laughter and joy. Mila, you're perfect for this daddy. I love you so much.

Love,
Daddy

We All Scream For Ice Cream

Mila enjoyed her first treat from our neighborhood ice cream truck. We love it because it's an old school truck that sells
actual cones, malts and banana splits--
none of those novelty cartoon character sugar bombs for MQ!
Not while Mommy still has some control anyway ;)

Summer in the City

It's that time of year again! Summer shows at Millennium Park are in full swing and Mila is quickly becoming an old pro at attending concerts...
Sucking on ice cubes to stay cool
LOTS of people were there to see Iron & Wine
Even Grandma Lynn was there!
Sound asleep in Daddy's arms by the end of the concert.

Sandy Vandy

Mila is so content playing in her little sanbox...
...and not only is she fun for us to watch,...but it allows for Mom and Dad to spend 20 minutes or so reading books or time to have a nice dinner outside next to her without much interruption--and as all parents of 1 year olds know, 20 minutes is about the best you can get in one sitting!
