Vander Vliet Family Picnic

We made a trip to Michigan for the Vander Vliet family picnic.

It was a wet autumn day, but that didn't stop us
from catching up with family, enjoying yummy homemade food and playing in the park.

The real fun began when Aunt Vonna brought out
silly neckties and thick-rimmed glasses for the kids!

Even though Mila wasn't very happy in this picture with her
Great Grandma Vander Vliet, we had a nice time at the picnic
and enjoyed spending time with family.

Anniversary Cake

In celebration of our 6th wedding anniversary last Saturday,
we took MIla to our neighborhood's hippest new bakery,
Bleeding Heart.
Mila had so much fun looking at all the wild concoctions (like doughnuts coated in bourbon maple glaze and topped with candied bacon...Mommy and Daddy couldn't resist that one!) and watching the pastry chef work through a glass window.

She also really enjoyed her strawberry cake ball!

Color Me Cute

Thanks to a little encouragement from her good friend Aislan,
Mila has taken up a keen interest in coloring.
We can't wait to start decorating the fridge with her masterpieces!

One Last Fest

Each summer weekend in Chicago brings with it multiple street festivals. Now that we have MQ we don't hit as many of them as before, but the Food Truck Social a few blocks from our place brought us out for what was likely the final time for the season...
