Pinterest and Paint

Mila loves painting, but let's be honest--most of them are just messy blobs. Regardless, we put up this simple ribbon and clothes-pin art displayer (thanks for the great idea Audrey + Levi!) to show off her masterpieces:
But yesterday Mommy wanted some art for the cork-board above our beverage cart, and since she was hoping for something slightly more sophisticated than Mila's usual blobs, a search on Pinterest provided a fun new idea perfect for all ages.
Mila painted the "bubble side" of bubble wrap with fun colors. It would probably work better using your hands, but our little Van Gogh prefers a brush.
When she was done Mommy pressed it "bubble side" down onto white paper, gently removed it and was left with two interesting works of art!
We also made these Easter eggs, but they required a little more effort than what a 2 year old can offer (meaning Mommy rushed to finish just a few more good ones while Mila relentlessly pulled on her pant leg and whined for "mo paint, peeeease"):

Birthday Weekend!

To celebrate Mila's 2nd birthday (!) we made her dreams come true
by spending the weekend at Key Lime Cove,
a hotel and water park...a.k.a. Kid Heaven.
She had balloons and a banner waiting for her in our room when we arrived.
Ready for the pool!
She was a total dare devil on the kiddie slides...
...and went down all by herself, over...
...and over...
...and over.
On her special day she requested a stop at a candy store...so she was over the moon when we took her the Jelly Belly factory where you could sample jelly beans to your heart's content!
What's a trip to Wisconsin without some cheese???
To complete her birthday outfit,
Mila rocked new rainbow sunglasses.
She loved the art center in the hotel and
had fun making her birthday crown.
The birthday queen.

The Great Outdoors

These days MQ wants to spend most of the time outside
on our patio, and Mommy doesn't mind a bit.
We have picnics, play with the hose, look for airplanes,
dig in her sand box, and both do a lot of reading.
We sure hope Old Man Winter doesn't come back again for a while!

Playing Dirty

What better way to spend a Spring afternoon
than making sand stew and mud pies?

Request Granted!

We wished for warmer days and we got them!
We took a long stroll yesterday and hope to do it again today.
Mila's dog-walking business is back!

2 Year Check Up

Our little clown had everyone smiling in the otherwise
dreary waiting room at the doctor's office. She got a big laugh when
an old woman sneezed and Mila, who has trouble with her Ls,
yelled, "Bwess you, Wady!"
The doctor seemed very impressed with her overall development.
She weighs 28 lbs, is 34" tall, w/a head circ. of 49.5 centimeters.
The only uncomfortable moment: When the doctor, who is Ethiopian,
said goodbye to Mila, she responded, "Bye Bye, brown guy!"
Thank goodness he laughed. Kids say the darndest things!
